York Junior Chess Congress.

Part of the Yorkshire Junior Grand Prix.
The best tournament for top juniors & those attending their first event

(Sponsored by the Yorkshire Junior Chess Association & The Ross Junior Chess Academy, Hull)

Sunday June 27,  2010
at Sitwell Primary School, Grange Road, Rotherham, S60 3LA

This is the last of the Junior Grand Prix events this year and this event also incorporates the Yorkshire Junior Championships for Boys & Girls.

To make the tournaments more attractive to both top players and beginners at their first tournament, we have changed the format of the Junior Grand Prix so that depending on your ability/grade and age – you can enter any of 3 grading sections. Added to this we intend to introduce a new Swiss system that means that is more fair for all abilities and juniors and will ensure juniors will play the majority of games against players of the same ability. There will still be a wide range of prizes/medals for best boys & girls in each group for all age groups (U18, U14, U12, U11, U10, U9 and U8 depending on entry).

Major Section:
The Bob Ross Major
Open to players with an ECF grade above 80 (old grade) or by invitation of the Organisers.
Prizes: 1st £50, 2nd £30, 3rd £20 . Trophies for the top 3 and Best girl.
Two extra grading prizes of £10 each has been donated  by the Ross Fund.

Intermediate Section

1st Prize £25.
Two extra prizes donated  by the Ross Fund are 2nd Prize £10 and three grading prizes of £5 each.
Trophies for the top 3 and Best girl.
Age group trophies/medals for both boys and girls - depending on entry.

Novice Section
Open to any player with no grade or below 20 (old grade)
Prizes donated  by the Ross Fund are 1st £10, 2nd £5.
Trophies for the top 3 and Best girl. Other prizes - depending on entry

*Age group trophies/medals for both boys and girls – in all 3 sections - depending on entry.
No-one can win more than one trophy (unless the trophy can’t be awarded to anyone else).
